The McDermott Sportsmanship Award
The McDermott Award is presented each year in honor of Bob McDermott. Mr. McDermott was a longtime supporter and volunteer at Northwest Little League. The award is presented to a 12 year old player who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship to their teammates, coaches, opposing players, and umpires throughout their Little League careers. In addition to sportsmanship, the player's positive contributions to his/her school and community are also taken into consideration.
Each team's coaching staff will select a 12 year old player from their team as a finalist for the McDermott Award. The winner will be determined based on a vote by the Northwest Little League Board of Directors.
Each player selected to represent their team will be recognized at the post-season picnic/awards day as a finalist for the McDermott Award. The McDermott Award recipient will be presented with a trophy/plaque as well as being recognized with their name being added to the permanent plaque displayed in the Northwest Little League Concession building.
